Twisted Thinking - likely to cause offence….

MTV Europe music awards

Ah, so the video wall on the Killer’s song looked amazing. Kanye West cannot sing live. To the point I actually felt sorry for him. And Katy Perry has just yelled ‘You are the shit!’ at Grace Jones. Rock on.

Centre for Policy Studies – or too fucking late

Posted in Uncategorized on November 4, 2008 by twistedthinking

So, the Centre for Policy Studies thinktank is waving some report about that blames Gordon Brown’s Bank of England reforms in 1997 for the current financial crisis.

Brilliantly pointless. Because where the fuck was that insightful ‘thinking’ from the so-called thinktank back in 1997?

Coming out with ‘thoughts’ like that 11 years after the bloody event doesn’t make this organisation a thinktank. It makes it a ‘stating the bleeding obvious’ tank.

‘Thinking’ suggests that an idea is considered by the tank at the time of inception and its pitfalls flagged IN BIG RED LETTERS at the time. Not 11 years later.

It’s a bit like saying, ‘Guess what, we’ve got a report that says George Bush made a serious mistake invading Iraq all those years ago.’

obesity and pensions…no longer important apparently

Posted in Uncategorized on October 20, 2008 by twistedthinking

Remember the obesity crisis? I do. Medical doom merchants telling us month after month that obesity would kill millions in the years to come, and the costs of treating those fat, self-indulgent fuckers that weren’t killed by their gluttonous overeating would cripple the NHS? Ring any bells?

And remember the pensions crisis? Financial doom merchants whingeing about how irresponsible the British public are in not saving for their future? I do (with a great big smile, as I think pensions are a complete waste of time…I had one once…with Equitable Life…and what a shower of incompetant bastards they were…)

I loved the juxtaposition of these simultaneous crises. I figured that if the government stopped trying to solve the obesity crisis, a wave of Mr Creasote style deaths would sweep the nation within 20 years and the pensions crisis would solve itself.

The brilliant thing now is…the govt has stopped trying to fix the obesity crisis…(probably because this global meltdown thing is keeping them busy, and they probably figure Jamie Oliver is holding the fort on the fat front.)

So if there is an economy left after all these multi-billion bailouts, skinny people with no pension will probably be ok.

Because if obesity is an illness and an addiction, people will keep eating, take out loans to fund their habit and die. Though probably in a tracksuit…rather than a dinner suit.

Quite enjoying this global meltdown

More cheery news – the US government didn’t get its $700billion rescue package approved. Apparently the Republicans thought it was a bad idea to be seen bailing out the financial fat cats with tax payers money … mostly because the voting public might have an issue with it, and therefore not vote for them at the next election. (Mind you, US voters don’t seem too bothered about what the government do – after all, they gave George Dubya another bash at being president even though he accidentally started a war, so perhaps the Reps needn’t have worried so much.)

Following the ‘no’ vote, a few hundred billion more got wiped off the value of stocks are shares as the panicking markets took a collective dump down the leg of their sweaty pinstrip suits when they realised that ‘daddy’ wasn’t coming to their rescue. Oh diddums.

So ’nice one’ on the ‘no’ vote guys. Doesn’t really solve anything though, does it?

Oh and if anyone in government (British or US – I’m not fussed) has a good idea about how to fix this little hiccup without a $700billion bail out, do speak up.

Ant & Dec – ha ha ha

Posted in Uncategorized on September 30, 2008 by twistedthinking

So, I switched on Sky news yesterday morning to see someone in authority thought it was a good idea to send those two unfunny TV midgets Ant & Dec to entertain the troups in Afghanistan. (Because if I was a soldier facing life-threatening equipment shortages and possible death everyday, my first choice would be Ant and Dec.)

Then the reporter said the Taliban had tried to shell them. So clearly the Taliban have some sympathy for our boys and the dire choice of entertainment they’re suffering.

Bet they shat themselves. Brilliant!
